p and g

whoah, it's been a while. i've been quite busy with academic work.

attended the procter and gamble leadership forum at the manila peninsula.

i'd say it was successful - the forum was able to clearly and explicitly explain how one can fare with a career at p&g. after the talks by the six functional representatives, who were heads by themselves, i'd like to focus on three things that i picked up.

1. complacency - can't be too complacent. the moment you say you're the best. you'll deteriorate then die. never lose enthusiasm.

2. results - it's s great to have plans. but in the end, they're only as good as its implementation. likewise, great ideas are useful in as much as they are communicated.

3. synergy - if you can surround yourself with the best people, you cannot but excel in such environment.

there were a lot of other common sense topics discussed, but i think these reiterate some of the for granted perspectives in doing business or in self-development.

reflecting on the night...

how should one feel when you hear, "you are in this room because you are the best among the 1,000 top students of the top 3 universities in the philippines" how should you feel? great? happy? flattered? how about if you know that most of your batchmates weren't there because they had other academic stuff to attend to? that the best, or others who are better than you are just out there, unable to come? shouldn't it go like "you are in this room because you are the best among the 1,000 top students of the top 3 universities in the philippines that was able to attend?"

hmm...

but then again, i was able to get there fair and square. in business, it's not who deserves it. it's who takes the opportunity to. it's not about who has the best product in town. it's about which product will most satisfy the needs of the customer anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

let me then try to satisfy you while others take care of other things.
